Daff App legal
Photo Contribution Guidelines
Daff App accepts daffodil photos from signed-in users who own the photo or have permission to license it under CC BY 4.0. Accepted photos may be published publicly with attribution.
1. What to Upload
- clear daffodil photos you took yourself;
- photos associated with the correct daffodil record;
- front, side, angled/oblique, clump, or useful reference views;
- JPEG, PNG, or WebP images under 8 MB.
2. What Not to Upload
- photos you do not own or do not have permission to license;
- images copied from vendor sites, catalogs, books, social media, search engines, or other databases without permission;
- photos with visible watermarks, logos, promotional text, signatures, date stamps, decorative borders, or embedded branding;
- non-daffodil images;
- images with people, private addresses, license plates, or sensitive location details;
- spam, promotional graphics, malware, misleading files, or intentionally mislabeled cultivar images.
3. Rights and Permission
Only upload photos you took yourself or have permission to license. Do not upload a photo just because it is online. Do not upload nursery/vendor catalog images unless you have explicit permission to license them under CC BY 4.0.
4. CC BY 4.0
If accepted, your photo will be published under CC BY 4.0. Others may copy, share, adapt, and use the photo, including commercially, as long as they provide attribution required by the license. The license generally cannot be revoked for copies already shared. Daff App may review requests to remove, replace, or unpublish your photo, but publication under CC BY 4.0 does not give you an automatic right to delete copies already published on Daff App or reused by others.
5. Attribution
Published photos are attributed using your display name. Choose a display name you are comfortable making public. Your email is not used as public attribution. Display names may be legal names, pseudonyms, garden names, or organization names. Existing attribution may not update automatically if you later change your display name.
6. Review Process
Uploads are pending until reviewed, and publication is not guaranteed. Review may be human, automated, AI-assisted, or a combination. Daff App may classify photos by subject, view, confidence, and suitability, and may reject photos that are unclear, infringing, non-daffodil, duplicated, misleading, watermarked, branded, low-quality, privacy-sensitive, or otherwise unsuitable.
Even if you own the photo or have permission to license it, Daff App may reject visible watermarks, logos, promotional text, signatures, date stamps, decorative borders, or embedded branding. If you want credit, use your Daff App display name or supported attribution fields instead of marking the image itself.
7. Privacy Tips
- avoid uploading photos with people or private locations;
- remove sensitive metadata before upload if concerned;
- do not rely on Daff App to remove all metadata;
- private originals may be retained for service operation, review, moderation, and legal/audit needs.
8. Photo Requests
You may contact Daff App to withdraw a pending upload before it is accepted and published. After publication, you may request correction, replacement, removal, unpublishing, or removal of attribution information. Daff App will review these requests, but unless action is legally required, Daff App may decide whether to remove, hide, unpublish, retain, replace, continue displaying, or modify attribution for the content.
Submitting a better photo does not guarantee removal of an earlier published photo. Removal, replacement, unpublishing, or attribution changes do not revoke CC BY 4.0 rights already granted to Daff App or to the public. Contact support@daff.app or privacy@daff.app.
