Description

Ambon bears 118 mm-wide flowers built from 55 mm petaloid segments in several whorls, with the outer two whorls opposite and closely overlapping. The spreading outer segments are broadly egg-shaped with blunt ends and small pointed tips, while the shorter inner whorls turn more strongly toward the center. Its 35 mm corona segments are interspersed among the inner whorls and have wavy margins with a finely crenate rim. It blooms early; a 2016 catalog described ivory petals and brilliant-yellow segments forming a symmetrical design.
