Dick Wilden

Description

Dick Wilden bears 50 mm brilliant greenish-yellow flowers, centered by a smooth, funnel-shaped orange-yellow corona that is deeply split, sometimes to the base. Broad, sometimes spreading and frilled corona segments cluster tightly within, while interspersed, perianth-colored petaloid segments extend beyond them. The outer segments are fairly broadly ovate, spreading and quarter-overlapping, with plane or occasionally concave tips and a slight white mucro; the narrowly spathulate inner segments have locally nicked, wavy margins. At the center, petaloid segments have tightly incurled, tube-like margins, encircled by six ovate, plane petaloid segments; flowering is early.
