Irene Copeland

Description

Irene Copeland bears snow-white, broadly ovate, overlapping segments in up to five whorls, with a flat, spreading outer whorl and progressively shorter, inward-curving inner whorls. The 85 mm flowers have brilliant greenish-yellow corona segments interspersed among the petaloid segments; these are two-thirds as long, oblong, rounded at the tips, and tightly incurled at the margins. The cultivar was named for the hybridizer’s daughter, Irene Copeland, and registered one year after her birth.
