Lulworth

2 W-YOOLarge-cupped

Description

Lulworth opens with a pale sulphur-white perianth that matures to pure white, surrounding a deep, bright reddish-orange cup with yellow at its base and a slightly frilled, crenate rim. The ovate or oblong, somewhat spoon-shaped segments have prominent pointed tips and visible midribs; they spread or curve slightly inward, sometimes twisting, developing wavy margins, or overlapping at the midpoint while remaining separated at the base. A historical description called the segments broad, ample, and slightly drooping, and portrayed the large, bell-shaped cup as unusually vivid red; the recorded synonym is ‘Vicar of Lulworth’.
