Description

Maria Pia bears 100 mm flowers with a deep yellow perianth and a rich orange-red corona split to the base into six segments, arranged in two overlapping whorls of three. The smooth, substantial perianth segments are spreading, broadly ovate, and overlapping, while the inner segments are narrower; the loosely ribbed corona segments are equally broad but half as long. An early-blooming member of the Duncan “Family and Friends” Series, it was named for the wife of Juan Andres Varas Braun, a friend of Brian and Betty.
