Nickelodeon

Description

Nickelodeon bears five to seven rounded, 50 mm flowers per stem, with very broad, spreading segments that are concave, creased, substantial, and strongly overlapping. The segment tips are blunt or squarish and sometimes truncate, surrounding a shallow, more or less disc-shaped corona with ribs, a wavy mouth, and an unbroken rim. Flowering occurs from early to mid-season; the coin-like florets and coronas inspired the name’s nickel association, while “Nickelodeon” also evoked a jukebox and the hybridizer’s interest in popular music.
