Description

Papillon Blanc has 85 mm creamy-white flowers with very broad, concave outer perianth segments that spread and overlap, while the narrower inner segments have wavy margins. Its corona is split to the base into six alternating, overlapping segments, more than half as long as the perianth segments, with an inflexed and frilled form. The corona opens creamy white with a yellow band along each midrib, then becomes self creamy white, and the plant blooms late. The name was spelled 'Papillon Blanche' until 1966, and that form remains listed as a synonym.
