Plenus

4 W-YYRDouble

Description

Plenus bears pure-white double flowers composed of broad, overlapping segments arranged in several whorls. The spreading or slightly inflexed outer whorls give way to progressively shorter, more strongly inflexed inner whorls around very small yellow corona segments, usually red-rimmed and sometimes marked with an intervening white line. The strongly scented flowers bloom very late. A 1907 account described the flowers as large under the historical name ‘Double Poeticus’ and recorded the nickname ‘Gardenia-flowered narcissus.’
