Princeps

Description

Princeps bears 95 mm flowers with sulphur-white, narrowly ovate segments that are acute, inflexed, twisted and smooth, overlapping only at the base. Its rich yellow corona, paler at the base, is narrowly funnel-shaped and loosely ribbed, expanding into a more strongly ribbed mouth with a notched, toothed rim. It flowers early; a Dutch daffodil historian described it as a selection of a Dutch wild narcissus, and recorded synonyms include ‘Irish Princeps’, ‘Princeps Grand Trumpeter’ and ‘Principe Umberto Primo’.
