Description
Scarlet Gem has rich primrose-yellow, very broadly ovate perianth segments that overlap by two-thirds, surrounding a shallow, widely expanded, ribbed and slightly frilled vivid orange corona with green visible in the tube. The inner segments are loosely twisted with less prominent terminal points, and 4–6 scented flowers are borne on each stem in mid-season. A 1937 account records that, where it did well, it flowered and increased very freely.
