Sulphur Phoenix

Description

Sulphur Phoenix was described in 1907 as having very large, double flowers, with many whorls of white or yellowish-white petaloid segments interspersed with very short, sulphur-yellow corona segments. Its ovate, slightly overlapping segments spread in fairly regular outer whorls with recurved margins, then become shorter and inflexed inward, with twisted, more strongly inflexed central whorls. The 1907 account also called it a robust grower, recorded Silver Phoenix as an alternative name, and noted the popular name Codlins and Cream. Other reported synonyms include Albus Plenus Sulphureus, Codlings and Cream, Codlins and Cream, and Lemon Phoenix.
