Woodstar

Description

Woodstar bears five to six or more 44 mm flowers per stem, with soft lemon-yellow, strongly reflexed perianth segments; the less-reflexed inner segments have wavy margins. Its smooth, cup-shaped corona is whitish with lemon yellow at the base, and flowering is late in the season. Part of Grant Mitsch’s “Bird Series,” the cultivar was named for a hummingbird variety found in the Bahamas and South America.
