John Evelyn

2 W-OLarge-cupped

Description

John Evelyn has 94 mm flowers with creamy-white, spreading perianth segments and a broad, shallow apricot-orange corona darkening at the rim. The very broadly ovate segments are blunt or truncate, with pointed tips, substantial overlap, and wavy margins; the inner segments are nicked and more strongly waved. Deep, overlapping, heavily frilled lobes frame the corona mouth, while short strap-shaped growths occur irregularly outside the heavily ribbed corona; Copeland named the flower after the English garden writer John Evelyn.
