Lightning Fire

2 O-RLarge-cupped

Description

Lightning Fire has a coppery orange to deep coppery perianth surrounding an orange-red to deep orange-red, bowl-shaped corona. The 95 mm flowers have 41 mm, very broad, roundish, prominently mucronate segments that spread flat, overlap by half or more, and are smooth and heavy in substance. The narrower inner segments show a broad midrib, while the sepals are broader than the petals. Its lightly ribbed corona has an expanded, wavy, deeply lobed mouth with overlapping lobes and a dentate rim, giving the crown a scalloped outline; it blooms early.
