Scarlet Tanager

Description

Scarlet Tanager has 70 mm flowers with clear medium-yellow perianth segments and a bright orange-red, bowl-shaped corona. The very broad, spreading segments are concave, smooth, and overlap by half, while the corona has a straight, even mouth and a minutely notched rim. A late-blooming member of the Mitsch/Havens “Bird Series,” it was named after the scarlet tanager bird.
